They said Jin Dynasty was the only times in whole Chinese history which the mandarin and the scholars believed the humanity was the ultimate goal of the society..
every individual matters..it sounds like easy saying in nowadays. But to think back, think really back... Han Dynasty...Qin Dynasty...Warring States Period...Spring and Autumn Period.....and think forward....Sui..Tang Dynasty............and all the way down to Qing.............people never matters....but the whole imperial period, the feudalism did much better in terms of forming the nation's culture. Much better than current times, and the future cannot top it either.
then what really matters? the forms of governing? i think not. the people? not sure. the confidence of its own existence? might be.
